Privacy Policy

How Keans Solicitors collects, uses, and protects your personal data, and the rights you have under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Irish data protection law.

Last updated: 12 June 2026

Who we are

Keans Solicitors ("we", "us", "our") is the data controller responsible for your personal data. Our registered office is at 4/5 Trinity Street, Dublin 2, D02 RH32, with a second office at Unit 3 Griffeen Centre, Lucan, Co. Dublin. You can contact us by phone on 01 676 9955 or through our contact page for any privacy-related query.

The information we collect

We collect personal data that you provide to us directly, primarily through our enquiry and callback forms and through direct contact with our office. This typically includes your name, email address, telephone number, the area of law your enquiry relates to, and any details you choose to share about your situation.

When you instruct us on a matter, we may collect further information necessary to act for you, which can include identification documents, financial details, and information relevant to your case. We also collect limited technical data automatically when you use our website, such as your general location and device type, through the services described below.

How we use your information

We use your personal data to respond to your enquiry, provide a free initial consultation, deliver legal services where you instruct us, meet our legal and regulatory obligations as solicitors, and keep records as required by law and by the Law Society of Ireland.

The legal bases on which we rely are your consent (when you submit an enquiry), the performance of a contract (when you instruct us), our legal obligations, and our legitimate interests in running and protecting our practice. We do not use your data for automated decision-making or profiling.

Third-party services

Our website uses a small number of third-party services that may process limited data on our behalf:

1

Form processing

Enquiry forms are processed through a form delivery service so that your message reaches our office securely by email.

2

Google Maps

We embed a Google Map to show our office location. Google may set cookies and collect data in line with its own privacy policy.

How long we keep your data

We retain enquiry data only for as long as necessary to deal with your query. Where you become a client, we retain your file for the period required by our professional, regulatory, and legal obligations, after which it is securely destroyed. We do not keep your personal data for longer than necessary.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have inaccurate data corrected, to request erasure in certain circumstances, to restrict or object to processing, and to data portability. You also have the right to withdraw any consent you have given at any time. To exercise any of these rights, please contact our office.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Commission, the Irish supervisory authority, at dataprotection.ie. We would always encourage you to raise any concern with us first so we can put things right.

Cookies

Our website itself uses only the minimal cookies needed to function. Third-party features such as the embedded Google Map may set their own cookies. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practice or in the law. Any updates will be published on this page with a revised date above.

Questions about your data?
